Life story: Alcalar was found in... Alcalar (an area outside Portimão), and that's where she got her name from.She was found by a lady who called us asking for help. Alcalar looked pregnant but the Vet found out that her belly was swollen due to liquid inside the body. She was malnourished and covered in ticks. She was diagnosed with a chronic heart condition and, due to that, she will have to take medication for the rest of her life. Apart from that her general health condition has improved and she is leading a normal life. Alcalar has been with us at the shelter since 10/03/2018.

Behavior: Alcalar is a shy girl. Runs away from anyone she doesn't know well. But she is a loveable dog. If she feels insecure she will try to defend herself (and her food) from stronger dogs, but she will not get into any major aggression issues with them. Her reaction comes from her insecurity.

She would be happiest as the only dog in the house. She likes short walks and human attention.
